YouTube.com still blocked

I’ve already posted about the Junta’s actions against YouTube and since then Google has removed the offensive video, but the site is still blocked from within Thai net space.

So far all calls by myself to find out an official response have gone unanswered.

update 25/04:
Jack pointed out that offensive material is still available, hence the block.
This raises a good point about how Google is stuck with the issue of moderation. Each culture has something that they find offensive, whereas to other cultures it is not. Tricky one to fix

Hey, people in Thailand guess what? Your government is blocking you from seeing the 4th most popular website in the world! How cool is that. (http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_sites?ts_mode=lang&lang=en)

    4AMEXPAT,

I can catagorically tell you , on be half of Thai people, that the it does not mean a thing not being able to go to youtube , no matter how much expat like you (based on your name and not refer to every expat) worship them, is that clear?

And the last time I was confirmed by offcial, Youtube has “not yet removed” the offensive materials from its site. Quite the opposite, there are more posted and allowed by Youtube. Dig that ?

    Daniel,

As I said in my previous post, Youtube has not yet removed the offensive materials. Even worse, more are allowed.

I cannot tell you how I know, but I have seen them with my fresh eyes that they are still out there.

Junta has obligation to serve the best interest of Thai kingdom and Thai value, not the best interest of the so called American freedom of speech attitude, which is double standard attitude anyway, let’s face it.

    Jack,

Interesting, I wasn’t able to find the initial video that started the whole thing, but also didn’t search indepth for more king related material.

The issue i see for google is this, how would you moderate uploads so as to not offend the world?

Metacafe has also been recently blocked. I’ve put an interesting post at bloggingmiles: http://www.bloggingmiles.com/serious-stuff/metacafe-blocked/
