Snap Snap Snap..

First I suppose I should introduce myself…
My name is Daniel and having been in Bangkok for a short time, being a photographer Ive decided this is the place to be rather than London or New York. As a photographer, I will be looking at the glamourous side of living in BKK

I noticed when I arrived was the sheer amount of Model nights that most clubs are bars have. The trend was stared by the uber trendy Bed Supper Club (26 Sukhumvit Soi 11) in 2004. The latest newcomer is Koi (26 Sukhumvit Soi 20)

Having been sucked into the obessive world of models and model nights in London and NYC, I was suprised to see so much attention given to the more beautiful people in this city. Unlike NYC and London, models in Bangkok get drinks, and food, for free. Whereas their counterparts in Europe and the States have to fund their lifestyle themselves.

The upside of giving models free drinks is that you will attract customers who want to be seen with attractive and socialize with people from the creative industry. Initially I’ve found the atmosphere to be good, although some of the models believe in their own hype too much and end up strutting around the bar like they are Gisele or Kate.
Granted the fashion industry is a hard place to work and most contracts or bookings are made during social events, especially when champagne is flowing and everyone is more relaxed.

Bangkok seems to have a thriving fashion scene and having venue’s actively push the glitz and glamour can only do wonders for the city and its nightlife.

As someone who has once benefited from the model nite scene – let’s just say in the end I think it just ends up alienating the people who make money for the club.
