I’ve Got A Really Good Excuse

I haven’t blogged anything on here for about a week and the reason is I’ve had an eye infection that stopped me from looking at anything, which I’ve documented on my own blog in a number of posts (in chronological order):

If you don’t want to read through all of that, let me just say that I’ll never go to Deja Hospital again and that Phaya Thai Hospital and Dr Panada (I don’t know her full name) are my new best friends.

Good to hear that all went well, it could have been worse: I had an eye problem myself here in BKK but it actually took a month to be cured. First diagnosed as an infectious bacterial conjunctivitits in Malaysia, the first doctor in BKK (Bumrungrad) treated it as a viral infection for a week, then said it was eye herpes and prescribed anti-herpes drugs for two weeks. Because of my severly deteriorating eyesight, I changed horses and went to the excellent and recommendable Rutnin Eye Hospital on Asok near Phetchaburi. It was not herpes after all, but the toxic drops had impaired my vision, with no certainty it would ever get back to normal.

After 4 weeks the infections were gone, but it took another 6 or 8 weeks to see normally again. It’s definitely the worst, having had good vision and not knowing if you will ever get back to seeing like you are used to.

Other important finding: even the doctors at the supposedly best hospital in BKK can be severly wrong, and it really pays to get a second opinion. Thanks to the guys at Rutnin.

Yes, those of us with perfect vision really do begin to appreciate what those without it go through in cases like this.

There are certain hospitals in Bangkok that should be applauded for their work. Obviously, I’m not including Deja in that list.
