What to do?
If there is one thing I know about living in a city, it is that you never know what to do with visitors to that city. In a few hours my family arrive for weeks of visit and if any of you have any ideas as to what I can do with them, other than the river and the palace, I’d love to hear them!
You could always take your dad to buy a new laptop… that should take at least a day to do everything.
This is an annual issue for me, as people keep coming to visit during tourist season. I love seeing friends and family, don’t get me wrong, but trying to balance entertaining with daily work is difficult.
On the whole, most people who come visit me are low maintenance, they do their thing and we hang when it’s conveient for all. What I suggest for unplanned visits for over a week is to use Bangkok as a base, but to get the hell out of here as much as possible. There are lots of great 4- and 5-day trips people can do from Bangkok – Chiang Mai & the North, Angkor, Laos, Vietnam, Southwest China, even Singapore – these are all good for a flight out Monday morning & returing Friday evening. Then you can spend the weekend together a leisure or you can join them where they are.
Hope that helps
