The Tunnel Club Grand Opening

Bangkok’s late night party options just got larger, with the opening of The Tunnel (Soi 5, Lang Suan), Bangkok Metblogs was exclusively invited along to shoot the event and experience the opening party. Being Halloween, many guests turned up in costume and added to the whole experience. It’s good to see Bangkonians really going for it at Halloween, as it makes a change from the subdued London parties I’ve attended in recent years.

For those in the know, the launch of this late night venue was eagerly awaited, especially since Bangkok’s other late night venue’s seemed to have vanished in recent months. The launch date was supposed to be 2 weeks ago, but ensuring the right vibe was in place was number one priority for the owners. Club goers won’t be disappointed. Upon entering this old restaurant, you are greeted with a series of large doors, to keep the external noise to a minimum and not annoy local authorities. The inside has been decorated in the theme of a cave, with ample dancing space and people watching positions, to ensure maximum eye candy potential. As a dj myself, it was a welcome sight to see the dj pod positioned in the middle of the dance floor as it means the dj can change the tempo where needed and really get a feel for the crowds reaction to the tunes being spun.

As with any launch party, the beautiful people were there along with a whole host of who’s who in Bangkok’s social scene. The owners stressed to me the importance of the sound system and I can honestly say it makes a difference. The music was brilliant and hopefully this venue will see more international dj’s making guest appearances. If I can get my vinyl shipped out from London, you may even see this man spinning in the future.

So how was your Halloween evening? Let us know what you got upto and if possible, send us images?

Woohoo! A place I could actually go party and get home without relying on any friends! Although, crawling from Soi 5 back to Ploenchit side of Langsuan may be a little bit far…
