No Car? No Problem!

It fascinates me that anyone living in Bangkok would want to own a car. The traffic is a nightmare just to look at, let alone to sit in it! With the latest news that service stations may have to close at 8pm instead of the 10pm that they do now I envisage that traffic will become even worse than it already is.

The government, in all of it’s benevolence, has come up with this idea to conserve energy. The side-effect of this is that motorists will adjust their schedules so that they can refill their tanks before closing time, causing even more traffic problems. Service stations will have to serve the same amount of customers, but with two hours less to do it.

Will closing service stations 2 hours earlier really save that much energy anyway?

If you’re like me and don’t have (or need) a car, you’ve got nothing to worry about - except for the increased risk of crossing a road.

Unif Free Tea

Ever since I gave up the Coke I’ve been drinking green tea like there’s no tomorrow. I tend to go with Unif because they have competitions going most of the time, the latest being for gold chains. I don’t really care for the chains themselves, but the occasional free bottle of green tea is welcome. In the last two weeks I’ve won 4 free bottles (one just a few minutes ago) and I hope there are plenty more to come because green tea tastes better when it’s free.

One of the things that has always surpised me is the multitude of flavours available of green tea here in Thailand. Back home green tea is just that - one flavour, but here there are at least 8 flavours going at any one time and that’s not even getting into the different brands available! For an indecisive person such as me it’s very difficult to choose the right one (if there is such a thing).

Right now I’m going with the honey flavour, sometimes deviating from my boringness to try lemon and honey (this coming from the person who has eaten kao pad moo every day for lunch at the office for the last two years). One things for sure though, I absolutely cannot stand the sugar free variety - I already gave up the caffiene, don’t take my sugar too!
