Less Ass Kissing, More POWER

A few days ago I was bewildered by a major Thai news story about a baby in Chiang Mai that apparently resembled Thaksin (who also happens to come from Chiang Mai). I didn’t understand:

  1. Why is this such a big story?
  2. Why are these people not embarrassed or ashamed that their child looks like Thaksin?
  3. Why do we need Thaksin’s ever-so-amusing anecdote in regards to this?
  4. Why is this considered funny and not scary?

Of course, the next day all was made clear to me when I heard mention that it had been Thaksin’s 56th (?) birthday and that’s the time of year the media is meant to kiss his ass more than usual.

well I don’t know about media brown nosing, but if you’d like to see a candle version of Thaksin, here’s a pic taken recently in Khorat.

Dont forget, this is a country that voted PM Toxic into power. Sounds like exactly the kind of people that would love to see such news.

I wouldn’t mind having my kid look like thaksin. Then I could get cool perks like anything I wanted. :P haha

That wax carving would have been better if the horse was trampling Thaksin, or at the very least looked like it was going to.

Toxic… reminds me of the waters of Saen Saep Canal :)

I wonder if the kid looks more like Thaksin when he cries and screws up his face, screaming for attention?

I’m confused… do you mean Thaksin or the baby that looks like him? :)

Bonafide: the implication of having your kid look like Thaksin is that the PM probably schtupped your woman

Paul: Good point, didn’t think of that one. But hey at least I can reap the… benefits?
