As the Miss Universe Contest is coming up very soon. More and more scandals has been out, first with the pictures of the girls in bikinis with Wat Arun as a background, then came the claim that Miss Vietnam was (or is) a fake.

As a media, (who don’t really see the importance of the news at all) I just think that they need a little bit of scandals to boost the public interest up. Afterall, where would the pictures come from, if not from the comittee itself. I asked around amongst my friends and they all said the same thing. Maybe this is due to the fact that there are too many tickets leftovers?

Now that the committee doesn’t allow any TV media to follow them around, my friends from AP are resigned from this job. Bless them.

One of the great things about this time of the year in Thailand, if you’re working, is the number of public holidays.

The recent Visakha Bucha Day happens to be the last one we will be seeing until July 22nd, which is incidentally the day after my birthday (great present!).

I would like to apologise to any and all I have offended with my public comments about the Royal Family of Thailand. They were not researched or prepared with any sense of justification and I would hope that they do not affect people’s view of the overall Metblog network. I have closed comments on the previous posts to keep the matter at a close

Since my last post about the email doing the rounds containing photos of a person, who is allegedly the daughter of a Thai princess, in multiple compromising postures, I’ve received an email from a person offering to pay money for the photos. These photos would then be used on their website, making them money.

I am absolutely horrified that there are people who hear about something as embarassing as this email must be to the person involved (regardless of the fact that there is no proof that it is indeed the person whom it is believed to be) and consider it a way of making money!

Let me make this clear. Even if I had the photos, I wouldn’t send them to anyone – especially someone like you!

As an aside, it’s interesting to note that the reason most Thai people believe that it is her in the photos is because she grew up in Europe. It’s a fascinating leap of logic and shows much about how Thailand considers the rest of the world.

Although it’s considered taboo to say anything about the Thai royal family, I have to comment on the latest email making the rounds featuring a certain younger royal (ok, it’s ’supposedly’ the daughter of the disowned princess*) bearing it all in a series of photographs. Every inch of her body (and parts that are on the border of being inside her body) is represented in ways I wish I only had to imagine!

Now that every Thai person hates me for bringing it up, even though everyone I know talks about it (in hushed tones), it must be said that I can neither confirm nor deny if it is really her (even though I’ve unwillingly seen the pictures). The fact is that even if it isn’t her, her reputation is tarnished forever – Thai people never forget.

* I’m not supposed to talk about how the princess was disowned by the king because she married a black guy from farangland either.

EDIT: Someone corrected me that the guy she married was actually white.

I have to admit, as much as I want to put the smack-eth down on Tata Young and her Sexy, Bitchy, Naughty brigade, she made the right choice in going International with her music. The song has become the anthem for all sluttified, and gold diggers around Asia, oh can’t leave out the surgically made ‘kor-toeys’ either.

Score, Thailand! Way to hold up our reputation!

Any-hoo, I want to bring to light one of my favorite Thai artists. Sek Loso. He’s priming himself for an international release. When I met him, a few years ago and then his verbal English was at best — poor, but apparently he has been in U.K. studying English and working with the producer of Oasis & the Verve on his new English album.

I’m a bit late to write this up, because I watched it a few nights ago now, but the Miss Universe 2005 pageant is in full swing.

Contrary to what most would believe about gay people, I’m not really interested in the event (except for the chance to point, laugh and sometimes scratch my head in wonderment). Thankfully, the televised event a few nights back gave me plenty of chances for all of the above.

even during shitty friday rush hour, they manage to smile and wai. it honestly makes a difference. i end up smiling too and end up thinking that the suriwongse highway office has trained their toll collectors so well.
