The blind leading the blind

Ok, people. Guess who won the general election? Was it:

a) “Bird” Thongchai McIntyre, international pop idol.
b) Mickey Mouse, international cartoon idol.
c) Thaksin Shinawatra, international George Bush wannabe.

Yes you guessed it, in what is being called “one of the dirtiest general elections the country has ever seen” (Bangkok Post), the Thai Rak Thai party swept into power like the proverbial Tsunami.

As they say here in Thailand… Same same.

[pedant] Trick question. An individual can not technically be considered the sole winner of a general election. Individuals win seats in the general election; the large scale win/loss outcome of the general election is borne out by the Parties themselves. I’m guessin’ you’re equating Thaksin with TRT, since he IS the TRT! [/pedant]

An excerpt from the above-referenced Bangkok Post article:

“Pibhob Dongchai, of the Campaign for Popular Democracy, said one way of interpreting the result was that people particularly Bangkok folk could not care less about conflicts of interest, human rights infringement, resolution of southern violence through force, and autocratic leadership.”

Really? You mean Thaksin didn’t do it all by himself? But… But… Wasn’t that him bellowing slogans from the back of the pickup truck on Asoke? Does that mean that Tony Blair is mearly the frontman for a… whats the word… I saw it on CNN… erm… “political party”?… and… and… Bush – Does he also have a party behind him? And there was me thinking that Republicans were people who owned bars and Democrats followed the teaching of that famous Greek guy, Democraties.

And it’s all done on number of seats? Really? Wow. Food Loft at Central is a political party then, right? Because I’ve been there and they have loads of seats. Wow. Amazing.

I’m so dumb, thanks for pointing out the obvious missing segments of my knowledge.

And here’s me thinking that England was run by Mr Blair alone, and I so admired him for taking all that responsiblity on himself. Next you’ll tell me he isn’t the offspring of Thatcher and Reagan and that the Easter Bunny isn’t real.

Oh, and why did you put “pedant” on your post, isn’t that something like a medalion, that you wear round your neck :) ?

You either enjoy being a drama queen, or you’re pissed drunk. Which one is it?

    (not a trick question)
